Job Title: Project Manager – HR & Payroll System Implementation

Contract Type: Temporary (6 months), minimum 3 days a week
Start Date: Immediate
Location: Remote

Purpose of the Role

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the identification, selection and delivery of a new integrated HR and payroll system for our organisation. This role will ensure the project is delivered on time, within scope, and to a high standard, providing robust governance and structure throughout all stages.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning & Governance

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive project plan, including detailed timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Establish robust governance frameworks to ensure compliance with organisational standards.
  • Ensure necessary approvals are secured at key project stages.

Stakeholder Management

  • Work closely with the HR Operations Manager and other key stakeholders to ensure alignment and buy-in.
  • Facilitate regular communication and updates to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Manage external vendor relationships and performance throughout the project lifecycle.

Risk & Issue Management

  • Proactively identify, assess, and manage project risks and issues, implementing mitigation strategies and escalating where necessary.
  • Maintain a comprehensive RAID log (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies), ensuring regular reviews and updates.

Delivery Management

  • Coordinate activities across HR, Payroll, IT, and external vendors to ensure successful implementation.
  • Monitor project progress against objectives and adjust plans as required to maintain momentum.

Data Migration and Testing

  • Co-ordinate data migration activities, including data extracts, mapping, validation and reconciliation.
  • Oversee the development and execution of test scripts, including parallel payroll runs to ensure system accuracy and integrity.
  • Lead detailed cutover planning and execution to ensure a smooth transition to the new system.

Quality Assurance

  • Ensure all deliverables meet agreed standards and business requirements.
  • Support the implementation of basic change management and training plans to facilitate user adoption of the new system.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven experience in managing HR and/or payroll system implementation projects.
  • Strong understanding of HR processes and payroll operations.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ability to establish governance frameworks and manage RAID logs effectively.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills with attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies (e.g., PRINCE2, Agile).
