🎯 The Role
We’re hiring an AI Developer Tooling Engineer to own and evolve the internal AI tools that power how Fanvue builds software. This role exists to significantly raise engineering productivity, reduce friction in development workflows, and help Fanvue become an AI-native engineering organisation.

You’ll focus on discovering, testing, and embedding the best AI tools and workflows into our day-to-day development process, enabling every engineer at Fanvue to ship faster and with higher confidence.

🚀 What You’ll Do

  • Build and maintain AI-first developer tools that streamline local and cloud development

  • Experiment with emerging AI coding agents and workflows, rolling out the most impactful solutions across engineering

  • Operate, scale, and evolve MCP servers and related infrastructure to optimise development speed and reliability

  • Define and document best practices for prompting, tooling, and AI-assisted development

  • Create and maintain an AI-ready knowledge base that works effectively for both engineers and LLMs

  • Measure and demonstrate improvements in developer efficiency, speed, and quality through AI-driven solutions

  • Define Fanvue’s AI developer tool stack and drive adoption across the engineering organisation

  • Partner closely with engineers to understand problems and match them to effective AI solutions

👀 Who You Are

  • A strong software engineer with production experience using TypeScript

  • Hands-on with modern AI coding agents such as Cursor and Claude Code

  • Familiar with tools like CodeRabbit and comfortable evaluating new developer tooling

  • Experienced operating or integrating services such as Context 7, Puppeteer, MCP Compass, or similar systems

  • Confident working across Next.js, Express, and modern frontend and backend tooling

  • Deep understanding of LLM fundamentals including RAG pipelines, embeddings, fine-tuning, tokenization, and performance trade-offs

  • Strong Git and GitHub workflow knowledge including PR reviews, CI/CD, and trunk-based development

  • Security-conscious, with good practices around secrets management and local or containerised development environments

  • Comfortable working with AWS in production environments

Nice-to-haves

  • Built and shipped AI-powered projects

  • Experience with n8n

  • Exposure to additional coding agents such as Aider, Cline, or GitHub Copilot

  • Familiarity with AWS CDK
