Job Summary

The Business Development Manager assumes overall accountability for lead generation and development including prospecting, presentations, assisting in the creation of RFPs and Proposals, and negotiating and closing deals. The role is also responsible for meeting territory sales goals.


Major Responsibilities/Activities

  • Develop an advanced understanding of the EMS industry including the unique needs and business challenges of our prospective clients.
  • Gain an in-depth awareness of EMS|MC’s competitors and the strengths and weaknesses of their product offerings. 
  • Canvas and develop assigned sales territory actively and conscientiously. This includes prospect identification, lead generation, qualification of prospects, assistance with proposal and RPF generation and negotiating and closing the deal.
  • Attend trade shows and other marketing and networking events to generate leads.
  • Actively network wherever and whenever possible with various trade organizations to promote awareness of in assigned territory.
  • Assist the marketing department with the RFP process as needed.
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings to provide input on client issue resolution and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Consistently support and demonstrate the company mission and values.
  • Participate in company-sponsored events, meetings, committees, etc.
  • Provide backup support to members of the Client Services team and other members of management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 
Requirements

Required Education, Skills, & Experience

  • 1-3+ years successful sales experience with a track record of meeting & exceeding quota.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 1 years’ experience with complex solution sales EMS industry.
  • Must have demonstrated track record of selling, managing and creating sales growth through driving process, results, & success.
  • Experience selling to municipal and county governments.
  • Understanding of cooperative purchasing laws and experience with leveraging them to drive facilitate the sales process.
  • Experience with Revenue Cycle is a plus.
  • Experience with a Base Selling Methodology. (Spin, Sandler, Miller Heiman).
  • Knowledge of navigating a long sales lifecycle.
  • High level of integrity, honesty, and commitment to self and others.
  • Proven success working from a remote office.
  • Proven ability to effectively and efficiently work a large geographic territory.
  • Expert ability to converse intelligently about software and hardware products and services 2 years’ experience in healthcare billing.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of HIPAA, Medicare, Medicaid, compliance, insurance, liability, and other payment methods.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Very strong customer service skills.
  • Strong listening, decision-making, communication, and critical thinking skills.
  • Willingness to communicate effectively and proactively with customers and all internal departments.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects, meet deadlines, and manage large projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and manage time effectively.
  • Highly organized with ability to manage time and prioritize work well.
  • Ability to function well within a cross-functional team setting and independently.
  • Proficiency in English is necessary for job-related communication, including understanding policies, writing correspondence, and engaging with colleagues or clients.

Working Environment

  • The office environment is a controlled indoor setting with minimal exposure to adverse conditions. 
  • Noise levels in the office are typically moderate and consistent with a standard office setting. 
  • For employees approved to work in a hybrid or remote setting, a quiet, private workspace free from significant distractions is required to ensure productivity during work hours. 
  • A reliable internet connection is required for hybrid/remote work. EMS|MC will provide necessary equipment, including a computer, monitor, keyboard, mouse and headset. 

Physical Requirements:

  • Sitting: frequent and prolonged periods of sitting at a desk while working on a computer. 
  • Communication: frequent and prolonged periods of speaking, listening, reading, and writing. 
  • Fine motor skills: frequent use of hands for typing and operating a computer mouse. 
  • Movement: occasional walking and climbing of stairs; limited bending, kneeling, lifting, and carrying of office-related items.  
  • Travel: Must be able to travel frequently as required for business needs.
