Summary: A Business Loan Underwriter identifies risks to loan repayment for new and existing borrowers by analyzing business financial performance, collateral value, and impacts to borrower business operations. Additionally, this position is responsible for portfolio management and reporting.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Underwrites business financial statements, tax returns, and cash flow according to industry standards and credit union policy.
- Identifies risks to loan repayment, indicates mitigants, and structures business loans and servicing actions accordingly.
- Performs annual loan reviews and quality control checks for existing borrowers.
- Spreads and prepares financial and credit analysis in written reports.
- Works with business loan/relationship officers to obtain borrower financial information.
- Assists credit union members and employees on business loan inquiries.
- Creates management reports on critical portfolio aspects.
- Performs periodic site visits and collateral inspections.
- Prepares and reviews loan closing documents.
- Supports Business Services operations in online banking and cash management, portfolio reporting, loan processing, and other duties as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field preferred.
- Knowledge of small business banking credit policies, procedures, and loan structure.
- Knowledge of credit union business products and services.
- Knowledge of accounting principles and interpreting financial statements and tax returns.
- 3+ years of underwriting experience in business lending or related area.
