Our client, an A-rated insurance carrier, is expanding their underwriting department and seeking to add a results-driven Commercial Lines Production Underwriter to join their Michigan team. In this role, you will play a key part in underwriting commercial lines business, cultivating relationships with agency partners, and driving profitable growth in your assigned territory. This position requires a strategic thinker with strong analytical skills and the ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment. This person will have the ability to work remotely with occasional travel required within the defined Michigan territory.
Key Responsibilities:
Underwrite and manage a portfolio of commercial lines accounts, ensuring profitability and growth objectives are met.
Evaluate new and renewal submissions for coverage, pricing, and acceptability in accordance with company guidelines.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with independent agents and brokers to drive new business opportunities.
Provide exceptional service and support to agency partners, including training and guidance on underwriting processes.
Conduct agency visits to review books of business, identify growth opportunities, and deliver market insights.
Collaborate with internal teams, including product management and claims, to ensure effective policy management.
Monitor market trends and competitive landscape to adapt underwriting strategies and achieve business goals.
Maintain compliance with all regulatory and company standards.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, insurance, or related field preferred.
4 - 8+ years of experience in commercial lines underwriting or related field.
Strong knowledge of commercial insurance products, coverages, and underwriting principles.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build lasting agency relationships.
Salary & Benefits:
$120,000 to $150,000 Annual Based Salary + lucrative bonus
