Job Description

The Director, Finance Operations, Premium, reports to the VP Business Finance of MasterBrand with a strong, indirect reporting relationship to our Vice President, Premium Operations. This position is a key contributor on the Finance and Premium Operations management team, which together ensure financial targets and strategic initiatives are met while protecting assets, mitigating risks, and driving a sustainable internal control environment. This position requires leadership of several remote teams and effective communication with a wide audience crossing all functions of the organization, including executive management at times. This role is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating all Premium Operations accounting and finance functions; managing the accumulation of all financial data and reporting for budget, forecasting, actuals, and analyses; providing the organization with information vital to the decision-making process; managing the budget; assessing and improving current processes, controls, and systems; overseeing business performance metrics; driving results through thorough analysis, identifying and addressing risks and continuing team development.

Responsibilities:

  • Partners with the Vice President, Finance Operations to develop and drive short-, mid- and long-term strategies, plans, and budgets; and serves as strategic finance counsel.
  • Interprets financial results for the non-financial executive effectively, driving results.
  • Leads several teams with direct responsibility of all financial aspects of the operations including but not limited to monthly close, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, cost analysis, capital spending, etc.  
  • Owner of inventory costing for Premium facilities including establishing standard costs, balance sheet reconciliations, and oversight of cycle counting as well as annual physical inventory counts.
  • Drives improvement in the quality of internal and external financial data to enable business decision making and performance.
  • Tracks and reports key performance metrics consistently and accurately for the Premium Operations, identifying key drivers and partnering with team to understand trends and identify countermeasures when needed.
  • Ensures effective & efficient systems and controls are in place within the Premium Operations to ensure a sound control environment and Sarbanes Oxley compliance.
  • Hires, trains, and retains skilled staff through career development and mentoring.
  • Consistently demonstrates the MasterBrand Way, positioning the company for growth and helping identify opportunities to reduce waste, complexity, and improve our work environment.
  • Develops in-depth knowledge of all MasterBrand strategic business units. Leverages ideas from other reviews and co-workers to provide value-added recommendations and best practices to others. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • An undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field or equivalent experience required.
  • Master of Business Administration and/or Master of Accountancy preferred; Certified Public Accountant (or Chartered Accountant equivalent) and/or Certified Management Account preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in accounting, finance, and/or management in a multi-site, manufacturing environment.  
  • Strong manufacturing standard costing background.
  • Public accountant experience highly preferred.
  • Understanding of and experience with the interpretation and application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), cost accounting, and Sarbanes Oxley Act.
  • Progressive financial experience leading diverse teams at multiple locations within a manufacturing organization a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop an efficient and engaged finance, planning, and analysis team and to manage multiple priorities and team members in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Strong organizational and execution skills. Must be capable of moving assignments forward with high quality execution and minimal supervision. Strong attention to detail and follow-through skills are required. Ability to drive successful execution of strategic plans.
  • Positive and solution-orientated attitude and approach.
  • Effective communication (written and verbal); clearly, concisely and with context communicate objectives and expectations within the organization.
  • Ability to critically assess and simplify processes and controls, and challenge business drivers and risks. Influences others outside of own job area regarding policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (PowerPoint, Word, Excel).
  • Ability to travel 25% annually (domestic & international).

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The individual must be able to remain in a stationary position for 90% of the time and constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer. This includes typing, clicking, and writing. Frequently positions self to maintain information in drawers and shelving. The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information. Ability to read documents, emails, and computer screens, as well as see details on printed materials and presentations. Consistently works in an indoor setting. While traveling, the individual in this position needs to occasionally move about on the plant floor when going on plant tours and engage face to face with process and control owners. Occasionally moves items weighing up to fifteen pounds across plant floor for various needs.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This is a remote position with the ideal candidate capable of working efficiently and independently from their home office to fulfill assigned tasks and meet deadlines. As a remote employee the candidate will need internet connectivity capable of supporting virtual communication tools that allow for collaboration with team members, attendance of meetings, and participation in company activities. The ideal candidate will be required to set up and maintain a suitable home office environment conducive to productivity. This includes having a dedicated workspace with a comfortable chair, desk, and adequate lighting. The candidate is expected to travel 25% of their time to meet with process and control owners, go on plant tours, attend conferences, etc. This travel will require overnight stays and may be multiple days in duration.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; MBA, CPA, or CMA preferred
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in accounting, finance, and/or management in a multi-site manufacturing environment, with strong standard costing background
  • Understanding of GAAP, IFRS, cost accounting, and Sarbanes-Oxley Act; public accounting experience preferred
  • Proven leadership skills in developing and managing diverse, multi-location finance teams
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills with ability to drive strategic plans and influence across all levels of the organization
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to travel 25% annually (domestic & international)
