Rescue is a full-service marketing agency with a mission to make healthy behaviors easier and more appealing. Since our founding in 2001, Rescue has been exclusively focused on researching, developing, and implementing positive social change campaigns in public health. We provide research, strategy, creative, production, web, traditional media, social media, policy change, youth engagement and experiential marketing services to government, non-profit, and healthcare clients in over 35 states and provinces, as well as to federal government agencies.
Rescue’s health behavior change marketing campaigns focus on topics such as tobacco, obesity, substance and alcohol prevention; thepromotion of exercise, eating healthy foods, early childhood development, and after school programs; and other topics that promote healthy living. Rescue’s behavior change campaigns focus on diverse populations within teen (13 - 17), young adult (18 - 26), and adult (18+) populations in both rural and urban areas, resulting in a wide variety of campaign styles and strategies.

The Job
We are looking for a dynamic, high-performing Freelance Web Developer II leading the development and delivery of complex and accessible web applications that meet client expectations. This role requires adherence to best practices, and a blend of hands-on development, and strategic collaboration with cross-functional teams to achieve superior technical outcomes.
This position is remote, and may be located anywhere in the United States. However, this role is required to be available for meetings and communication during the hours of 9am - 5pm PST.
Advanced Web Development
- Develops sophisticated, responsive, and functional websites, ensuring alignment with design comps and industry standards;
- Ensures high-performance and maintainability across all assigned projects;
- Builds and optimizes websites for maximum speed, scalability, and cross-browser compatibility, while troubleshooting complex technical issues as they arise;
- Conducts thorough quality assurance checks, incorporating rigorous testing methods to maintain high-quality outputs;
- Executes analytics setup and integration, ensuring robust Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager implementations are in place;
- Ensures websites adhere to WCAG 2.2 accessibility standards
- Implements innovative technologies and methodologies to solve real-world problems, driving project success from conception to deployment.
- Implements best practices in development and project execution
- Able to work with Figma design comps and prototypes
Strategic Collaboration & Project Oversight
- Collaborates with digital producer, UX/UI designers, and Creative leads to identify strategic opportunities and cost-effective web development approaches
- Works closely with digital producer to estimate project budgets and timelines, proactively identifying and communicating potential challenges;
- Partners with UI/UX teams to execute visually consistent and user-centric web solutions, ensuring a seamless user experience;
- Works with QA teams to ensure deliverables meet rigorous standards and quickly address any issues.
Individual Workload Management
- Self-manage project work to deliver on time and within budget, requiring minimal revisions;
- Communicates with the digital producer to help manage project budgets and timelines;
- Manage time and workload effectively, promptly raising concerns about any potential overages or issues that may impact the project scope and proposing solutions to the digital producer;
- Stays within reasonable, allotted time frames and hours and proactively communicates concerns around scope and allocated time;
- Set up creative team check-ins as requested;
- Adhere to brand guidelines, brief requirements and channel best practices;
- Ensure all work adheres to brand and client standards before internal reviews;
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED + 2 years relevant experience
- JavaScript (ES6+) , CSS3, and HTML5
- Proficiency in Vue.js and Nuxt.js
- PHP and MySQL
- Version control system (Git)
- Build tools such as Vite and Webpack
- Familiarity with AWS infrastructure
Location: Remote in the United States
Status: W2, Part-time, Temporary
Pay Range: $40 - $50 per hour

Environment:
All business-related environments are tobacco-free.
Physical Requirements:
Able to remain in a sitting position for prolonged periods of time for the performance of duties. Able to read from a computer, laptop monitor, or tablet for a full workday and for long periods of time (typically 8 hours) including fonts of various sizes from a variety of sources. If working from a Rescue office location, able to stoop, bend, reach, climb stairs, and move freely throughout the building. Able to travel nationwide as needed to meet with clients, coworkers, or attend meetings and seminars. Must be able to move boxed work documents, up to 40 pounds, in and out of office for travel by car and by air.
