Company Description

Since 1928, The Varsity has been an iconic Atlanta institution and Georgia Tech tradition. Known as the "World's Largest Drive-In," we serve over 30,000 people on game days with our famous chili dogs, onion rings, and frosted orange drinks. We're looking for a creative social media manager to help share our legendary story and connect with both longtime fans and new generations of customers.

  • Rate - $55-60/hr
  • Hours - 10-20 hrs/week 
  • Location - Greater Atlanta area (must be based here to go onsite to capture content)
  • Contract - start asap through EOY (likelihood to extend into 2026 if things are going well) 

Job Description

We're seeking a talented Organic Social Media Manager to develop and execute our social media strategy across platforms. This part-time contract role is perfect for someone who understands Atlanta culture, has a passion for storytelling, and can capture the unique personality that makes The Varsity a beloved local landmark.

  • Content Creation: Develop engaging photo, video, and graphic content showcasing our food, atmosphere, and rich history
  • Strategy Development: Create and implement organic social media strategies to increase brand awareness and customer engagement
  • Community Management: Post consistently across Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and other relevant platforms
  • Brand Voice: Maintain The Varsity's authentic, welcoming personality online while staying true to our "What'll ya have?" spirit
  • Local Engagement: Connect with Atlanta communities, Georgia Tech fans, and local food enthusiasts
  • Performance Tracking: Monitor engagement metrics and adjust content strategy based on performance insights

Qualifications

  • Location: Must be based in Atlanta, GA area - This will allow you to capture restaurant and food content 
  • 2+ years of social media management experience, preferably in food service or hospitality
  • Strong photography and basic video editing skills
  • Deep understanding of Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and emerging social platforms
  • Knowledge of Atlanta culture and dining scene preferred
  • Experience with content creation tools (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar)
  • Excellent written communication skills with ability to capture brand voice
  • Self-motivated with strong time management skills for remote work
  • Flexible availability for occasional evenings/weekends during special events or game days
