The opportunity

We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Cloud Security Engineer to join our Corporate IT team based in our Canton, MA office or remotely within the United States. The Senior Cloud Security Engineer designs, builds, and manages secure, scalable, and resilient Azure-based infrastructure aligned with business and regulatory requirements. This hands-on role blends cloud engineering, DevOps, and security practices, including infrastructure-as-code (Terraform), CI/CD automation (GitHub Actions), and deployment of IaaS, PaaS, and containerized workloads.

The engineer collaborates with architects, developers, and operations to deliver performant cloud solutions, integrating monitoring, logging, and configuration management. The role demands initiative, technical curiosity, and the ability to mentor others while maintaining architectural alignment and operational maturity. The engineer is expected to lead secure cloud enablement, enforce best practices, and support innovation across hybrid and public cloud environments.

Security is embedded throughout the role, requiring expertise in identity and access management (IDAM), encryption, segmentation, threat detection, and compliance frameworks. The engineer will also contribute to risk analysis, controls testing, and continuous improvement of cloud delivery patterns. Some of the Senior Cloud Security Engineer responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Cloud Infrastructure Engineering

  • Design and manage Azure environments using Terraform for scalable, resilient, and cost-optimized deployments.
  • Optimize services including DNS, VNets, ExpressRoute, WAFs, firewalls, load balancers, VMs, Blob storage, databases, Functions, Service Bus, Event Grid, and Kubernetes.
  • Collaborate with architects and engineers to align infrastructure with enterprise architecture and business needs.

DevOps & Automation

  • Implement CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions to automate provisioning, testing, and deployment.
  • Integrate infrastructure with configuration management tools (e.g., Puppet, Chef, Ansible).
  • Ensure infrastructure is supportable, well-documented, and aligned with operational excellence.

Security Engineering

  • Apply secure configuration practices across cloud resources, including IAM, encryption, segmentation, and cloud-native controls.
  • Integrate SIEM and third-party tools (e.g., NGFW) to ensure compliance with privacy, resiliency, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Support vulnerability remediation, incident response, and risk mitigation in collaboration with security teams.
  • Conduct oversight of security systems and escalate risks with mitigation recommendations.

Monitoring & Operations

  • Implement observability and performance monitoring using tools like DataDog and Azure Monitor.
  • Maintain logging, alerting, and configuration drift detection across environments.
  • Participate in ITSM processes (incident, problem, change, and service management) to ensure secure and reliable operations.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Partner with developers, architects, and operations to deliver secure, performant cloud solutions.
  • Contribute to reusable patterns, documentation, and standards for cloud delivery.
  • Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices in cloud engineering and DevOps.
  • Evaluate new cloud technologies to enhance delivery and security.

The expertise you bring

  • 5+ years of experience in Cloud Engineering, with a deep focus on Azure services and infrastructure.
  • Familiarity in Terraform and CI/CD tools and DevSecOps, particularly GitHub Actions.
  • Strong grasp of Azure security, networking, and third-party tool integration.
  • Experience managing multi-region Azure environments with VMs, storage, databases, and Kubernetes.
  • Proven ability to deliver scalable and maintainable infrastructure.
  • Experience with modern cloud architectures and their tradeoffs.
  • Familiarity with and experience optimizing cloud cost, security, performance, and scalability.
  • Excellent problem-solving, logical thinking, and leadership (by influence and example) skills.
  • Experienced in cloud networking architecture and cloud operations.
  • Experience with cloud-native security tools for containers, CI/CD, and Azure/Kubernetes monitoring.
  • Up-to-date understanding of a wide-range of incident response, system configuration, vulnerability management and hardening guidelines.
