This position is for a full-time Senior Finance and Budget Analyst to work at EAH Corporate in San Rafael, CA. This is a hybrid remote (2 days in-person/3 days remote) position. Candidates will have a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or related field. 7 years of progressively responsible financial analysis/FP&A experience, including ownership of budgeting and forecasting cycles, preferably in affordable housing, real estate development, property operations/asset management. Experience developing executive-level reporting packages and dashboards (Power BI and with Power Query strongly preferred). Salary range: $80,000 - $130,000 per year; hiring range for new employees is generally $80,000 - $105,000 per year, DOE. Please note an offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate and the current salary level of individuals working at EAH in a similar role.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Acting on own initiative and under general supervision, owns EAH’s enterprise-wide budgeting and forecasting processes and provides specialized analytical research and support to multiple EAH departments in a fast-paced work environment. Serves as the single point of accountability for budget cadence, forecast governance, and enterprise KPI reporting. Owns the organization-wide budget process, establishes forecasting and variance analysis rhythms, and develops outcome-oriented reporting that links resources to results. Functions as the point person for executive-level finance dashboards and reporting packages using Power BI and related tools to deliver clear, decision-ready insights. Assists with the property budget process as needed. Supports Real Estate Development project managers by assisting with pro forma processes, sensitivity analysis, and standardization of assumptions and outputs as requested. This position is characterized by a high degree of initiative, responsibility, accountability, and ability to work congenially with a wide variety of individuals, community-based organizations, and governmental entities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Enterprise-Wide Budget Ownership: Owns and drives the annual organization-wide budget process including calendar management, templates, instructions, assumptions, department support, consolidation, review cycles, and final presentation materials.
  • Forecasting and Reforecasting: Owns monthly/quarterly forecast cycles; maintains rolling forecasts as appropriate; coordinates updates with department leaders; ensures budget-related deliverables are accurate, timely, and decision-ready.
  • Variance Analysis and Corrective Action: Completes analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual operating results for EAH Corporate and portfolio-related functions; identifies drivers of variance; partners with department heads and the Executive Team to develop corrective action plans as needed.
  • Outcome-Oriented Budgeting: Develops budget narratives and performance metrics that connect spending to program/portfolio outcomes; standardizes KPI definitions, data sources, and reporting protocols.
  • Executive Reporting – Development (Owner): Owns executive-level reporting for the Real Estate Development, including dashboards and reporting packs that provide visibility into pipeline, milestones, financing status, predevelopment spend, sources/uses summaries, and risk/issue tracking.
  • Power BI Dashboards and Automation: Designs, builds, and maintains Power BI dashboards and data models; creates automated refresh processes (Power Query or other methods); ensures data integrity, governance, and reproducibility of executive reporting.
  • Property Budget Process (Initial Support to Increased Ownership): Assists REM/Asset Management with the annual property budget cycle by coordinating templates, timelines, assumptions support, roll-ups, and review materials; progressively assumes increased responsibility for driving workflow standardization, quality control, training, and continuous improvement.
  • Portfolio and Benchmark Analytics: Creates reporting tools for reviewing management portfolio benchmark performance; identifies opportunities for improvement; supports enhanced Executive Team review and analysis of Watch List properties and properties outside established benchmarks.
  • Data and Systems Integration: Utilizes Yardi and other internal systems to build consistent data sets for budgeting, forecasting, and KPI reporting; develops controls and documentation supporting “single source of truth” reporting.
  • Development Pro Forma Support (Assist Role): Works with Real Estate Department (RED) and project managers to assist in pro forma and long-term financial planning as requested, including scenario/sensitivity analysis, validation of assumptions, and standardization of model outputs.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership and Influence: Serves as a senior finance partner to department leaders; identifies budget drivers, constraints, and risks; drives accountability to deadlines and standards without direct authority.
  • Presentation and Communication: Prepares executive-ready summaries and presentations for Executive Team and other stakeholders; translates complex financial results into clear, concise narratives.
  • Continuous Improvement: Refines budgeting procedures, workflow, and reporting cadence; recommends process, template, and control improvements to increase accuracy, speed, and transparency.
  • Research and Special Projects: Undertakes research projects as requested; maintains supporting files, documentation, and process guides; supports CFO/Executive Team on special projects and assignments.
  • Complies with all EAH safety guidelines and policies.
  • Actively participates in EAH’s Injury and Illness Prevention Plan.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities. May provide functional guidance, training, and support to peers and cross-departmental contributors during budget cycles and reporting initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have access to reliable transportation. Must have a valid California Driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK REQUIREMENTS
