This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior GIS Analyst based in Canada.
This is a senior-level opportunity for a GIS professional to lead complex, multi-stakeholder geospatial projects with meaningful environmental and operational impact. You will take ownership of projects from planning through delivery, balancing scope, timelines, budgets, and regulatory requirements. The role combines technical GIS expertise with project leadership, client engagement, and team development. You will help translate geospatial capabilities into practical solutions, proposals, and new business opportunities. You’ll also design tools, applications, and automated workflows that improve efficiency and support compliance. Working across technical, business, and external teams, you’ll help deliver high-quality geospatial solutions that support responsible environmental management and long-term progress.
Accountabilities:
- Lead large, complex GIS and Geomatics projects from initiation through completion, managing scope, timelines, budgets, stakeholders, and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with business units, IT teams, clients, and external partners to establish priorities, resolve challenges, and support informed decisions.
- Identify and contribute to new business opportunities by translating GIS and geospatial capabilities into compelling value propositions, proposals, and client-facing solutions.
- Provide technical leadership to GIS professionals, reviewing deliverables, setting technical direction, coaching team members, and supporting their professional development.
- Apply GIS expertise to interpret legislation, policies, standards, and regulatory requirements, ensuring geospatial data and outputs meet compliance and audit expectations.
- Design and implement GIS tools, applications, and automated workflows that incorporate compliance requirements and improve operational efficiency.
- Oversee the quality and accuracy of cartographic products and geospatial deliverables, ensuring they meet professional and client expectations.
- Collaborate with project teams and clients to define Geomatics requirements and translate business needs into effective technical solutions.
Requirements:
- 8+ years of experience in a GIS, Geomatics, or similar senior-level role.
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline or a technical diploma combined with appropriate professional experience.
- Strong experience implementing and managing Geomatics and GIS projects, including coordination with clients and multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent cartographic design skills and the ability to produce clear, accurate, and high-quality mapping products.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with ESRI Enterprise Geodatabases and ESRI ArcGIS Enterprise, Portal, and/or ArcGIS Online.
- Experience setting up and managing ESRI Field Maps and Survey123 data collection services is an asset.
- Familiarity with FME or ESRI ModelBuilder is desirable.
- Programming or scripting experience with technologies such as Python, Arcade, JavaScript, C#, or SQL is an advantage.
- Experience with linear infrastructure and related geospatial applications is considered an asset.
- Strong project ownership, organization, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to provide technical leadership while working collaboratively across teams and disciplines.
