How You Will Make An Impact

 

Serving as the lead legal business partner for Singapore and Asia, the successful candidate will deliver strategic, risk-calibrated legal guidance across all commercial and operational activities. Additionally, this role is tasked with establishing a disciplined legal and governance framework across the region, working in close partnership with leadership to enforce compliance and uphold corporate legal standards.

 

Scope of the Role


Legal

  • Provide legal support for daily site operations, managing agreements related to leases, facility services, equipment procurement, sales, HR and engineering projects
  • Lead contract negotiations and oversee the development and maintenance of standard commercial templates (including customer, distribution, and key account agreements), while also managing intellectual property matters such as licensing and R&D contracts
  • Efficient management of litigation
  • Coordination and management of M&A transactions
  • Legal advice on product safety matters
  • Key contributor to Channel management of counterparties
  • Supervision of corporate secretary for all companies,  including the set of up board meetings for all Asian entities
  • Outside counsel management (corporate activities, litigations, etc.)
  • Providing high quality legal advice and support to the Asian business teams, corporate functions and the Asian leadership team.  Analyse legal and commercial risks while supporting the Asian business team objectives
  • Deliver timely, sound and practical legal advice and support to business leaders
  • Develop and conduct training for field and sales personnel if required
  • Develop standard work and standard processes for legal review and approval
  • Participate in departmental continuous improvement projects, particularly those relating to contract processes

Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with the “Code of Ethics”, laws, and regulation
  • Drive compliance programmes, including anti-bribery, antitrust, and investigations, in coordination with HQ. Participate in relevant audits
  • Provide compliance guidance to business

Data Privacy

  • Act as the Data Protection Officer for Soitec Singapore

Requirements & qualifications

Qualifications & Experience

  • Admitted to practice law in Singapore
  • Minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience (PQE), whether in a law firm or as inhouse counsel in the legal department of a large, listed company, ideally in an international context
  • Fluent in English and ability to communicate in one other Asian language (Mandarin, Japanese, Korean) as you will be required to manage the legal work for Soitec’s North Asian entities (China, Taiwan, Japan & Korea)

  • Broad-based legal expertise in various areas such as IP law, contract law, employment law, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, PDPA, anti-bribery and corruption, anti trust and procurement matters
  • Ability to exercise professional integrity, sound judgment, and emotional intelligence in a dynamic environment and adapt into the work culture of a matrixed environment
  • Matured disposition with ability to operate effectively within a matrix organisation, including managing conflicting priorities, change management, influencing senior stakeholders, and driving alignment across diverse regional teams
  • Adept at balancing legal compliance with commercial objectives to deliver pragmatic, risk-calibrated advice within tight deadlines
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate clearly, challenge constructively, and drive outcomes in a firm and professional manner
  • Desired qualities would be highly valued: integrity, adaptability, committed, empathy, autonomous, teamwork and good communicator
  • A good knowledge of Microsoft is required: Word, Excel and PowerPoint
