Omega Technical Services is seeking a highly motivated Technical Project Manager 3 to support ongoing operations at Los Alamos, NM.
The Technical Project Manager (TPM) 3 manages and ensures the timely completion of discrete technical and operational projects within a highly regulated Department of Energy (DOE) environment. This role establishes technical and programmatic requirements; defines project deliverables, schedules, and risks; and oversees projects from initiation through execution and completion.
Projects consist of related activities required to produce specific products or services that meet customer and program requirements. The TPM 3 defines scope and work products to meet programmatic objectives and functions in an oversight capacity, contributing to the development, implementation, and evaluation of program policies, procedures, and standards.
This role provides technical advice to staff and stakeholders, supports program enhancements, and performs performance assurance–related activities including management assessments, causal analysis, trending, and metrics development. The position requires the ability to lead diverse teams, manage complex initiatives, and communicate performance status effectively to internal and external leadership.
This is a full-time, primarily remote position supporting the ALDPI / Performance Assurance organization, with periodic on-site support at Los Alamos as required.
Manage and oversee discrete technical or operational projects from initiation through completion
Establish technical and programmatic requirements aligned with customer and organizational needs
Define project scope, deliverables, schedules, milestones, and risk mitigation strategies
Track project performance and communicate status, risks, and issues to stakeholders
Contribute to the development, implementation, and evaluation of program policies, procedures, and standards
Identify and recommend program enhancements and process improvements
Provide technical guidance and advisory support to staff and leadership
Perform management assessments, causal analysis, and performance evaluations
Track, trend, and analyze Performance Assurance data
Develop and maintain Performance Assurance metrics and reporting
Prepare and deliver clear performance status communications to all levels of management
Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers
Support DOE-regulated programs, including D&D, environmental restoration, and DOE Order 413.3B construction projects
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 8 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Documented experience with DevonWay / Ideagen systems
Demonstrated experience performing:
Management assessments
Causal analysis
Performance Assurance data tracking and trending
Development of Performance Assurance metrics
Ability to successfully plan, organize, lead, and monitor complex team efforts to completion
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting performance status to senior leadership
Proven ability to build and maintain effective professional relationships
Ability to work with confidential and sensitive information
Ability to obtain DOE Q-Clearance (active clearance not required to start)
Ability to support limited travel for onboarding and periodic on-site work at Los Alamos
Deal Breakers:
No DOE or highly regulated environment experience
No documented experience with issues management, trending, metrics analysis, or management assessments
Prior DOE experience supporting:
Decontamination & Decommissioning (D&D)
Environmental Restoration programs
DOE Order 413.3B construction projects
Experience in performance assurance, issues management, or quality assurance programs
Experience developing and nurturing high-level internal and external customer relationships
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Excellent report writing and executive-level communication skills
