A Brief Overview

Responsible for performance of assigned financial reporting, general accounting, and financial audits. The Accountant III position works closely with the leadership team and others as necessary to ensure consistent, accurate, and timely reporting of financial information.

What you will do

  • Performs assigned functions necessary to complete the monthly close and reporting process and reviews financial statements to identify potential errors or inconsistencies. Works with appropriate team members and work cross-functionally in the resolution of issues before financial statements are finalized. As an Accountant III, responsibility for complex operating and month end functions will be expected. Stay current on financial reporting and accounting regulations related to assigned functions.
  • Performs assigned duties in line with general ledger and fixed asset standards teams.
  • Completes assigned monthly and year-end accounting procedures and reporting including financial reporting, external audit preparation, tax return and audit preparation, and any other external and internal reporting. As an Accountant III responsibility for complex procedures, schedules, and tax related functions will be expected. Responsible for recording and tracking of complex and/or heavily regulated transactions as assigned, ensures compliance with relevant accounting standards and completes efficient, effective, and accurate reporting for various internal and external stakeholders.
  • Completes assigned monthly and year-end accounting procedures and reporting including internal and external financial reporting, external audit preparation and tax return preparation.
  • Supports Accountants I and II as directed by Leadership in applying complex accounting procedures
  • Performs job responsibilities, objectives and standards of performance for financial reporting, accounting, audit, and tax preparation within established policies, processes, and procedures established by Finance Leadership to ensure compliance across all Avera divisions.
  • Completes assigned complex reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, to ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory mandates.
  • Acts as a Super User for all assigned financial modules/products in order to direct and/or assist financial reporting team with procedural/process changes within divisions.

Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:

  • Bachelor's Accounting/finance, healthcare administration, or healthcare related field
  • 7-9 years Accounting experience

Preferred Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) - Board of Accountancy Upon Hire
