This position is REMOTE. 

Responsibilities

The Benefits Administrator I provides day-to-day administrative support for MV Transportation’s employee benefits programs and is primarily responsible for processing and auditing benefit vendor invoices, supporting union trust plans, and assisting union employees with benefit and pension trust-related inquiries. The Benefits Administrator I will work closely with Accounts Payable, HR, and external vendors to ensure accurate, timely processing, providing exceptional service to employees.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Process, audit, and reconcile benefit vendor invoices to ensure accuracy and timely payment.
  • Maintain and administer union benefit and pension trust plans, including monthly contribution reporting and payment processing.
  • Respond to union employee inquiries related to health, welfare, and pension trust benefits, providing clear and accurate information.
  • Administer employee benefit programs, including new hire enrollment, qualifying life event changes, and annual open enrollment.
  • Process benefit enrollments, changes, and terminations in HRIS and carrier systems accurately and within established timelines.
  • Partner with Accounts Payable to ensure benefit vendor and trust payments are processed accurately and on schedule.
  • Participate in audits, data integrity reviews, and compliance reporting as needed.
  • Support special projects and initiatives within the Compensation & Benefits department as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • One (1) – Three (3) years of experience in benefits administration or human resources preferred.
  • Experience working with HRIS and benefits enrollment systems (e.g., Workday, ADP, or similar).
  • Experience working with union benefit or pension trust plans preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, especially in auditing and reconciliation.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on customer service.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information appropriately.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Working knowledge of benefits concepts, terminology, and regulatory requirements (ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, ACA) preferred.
