Primary Purpose of Position: Partners Health Management is advancing its analytics capabilities to support whole-person care and data-driven decisions. The Business Intelligence (BI) Developer plays a critical role in transforming data into actionable insights through high-quality reporting, visualization, and dashboard solutions. 

This position develops and maintains interactive analytics products, ensuring accuracy, usability, and alignment with enterprise data standards. The BI Developer collaborates closely with the Director of Analytics, data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to deliver clear, engaging, and meaningful insights that inform strategy, improve outcomes, and advance health equity. 

 

Role and Responsibilities:  

This position plays a key role in transforming enterprise data into clear, actionable insights that drive informed decision-making across Partners. The Business Intelligence (BI) Developer collaborates with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to design and maintain high-quality dashboards, reports, and data models that reflect operational, clinical, and strategic priorities. The developer also supports enterprise-wide analytics practices that promote data accuracy, accessibility, and visual storytelling. 

Analytics Development & Visualization 

  • Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards, paginated reports, and data visualizations supporting business, clinical, and regulatory needs.
  • Create and optimize data models within Power BI and Snowflake to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
  • Implement DAX calculations, SQL queries, and performance tuning for optimal report responsiveness.
  • Ensure data visualizations follow accessibility and design best practices to enhance user experience and comprehension.

Collaboration & Data Alignment 

  • Partner with the Director of Analytics to translate analytical objectives into technical reporting solutions.
  • Work with data engineers to define and source reliable datasets from the enterprise data ecosystem (Snowflake, Azure Data Services, SQL Server).
  • Collaborate with analysts and business users to refine requirements, validate results, and iterate on dashboards to meet evolving needs.
  • Support a culture of data literacy and self-service analytics across departments.

Data Governance & Quality 

  • Apply enterprise data governance principles, including classification, access control, and documentation of reporting assets.
  • Validate data accuracy, completeness, and consistency within dashboards and reports.
  • Support compliance with HIPAA, HITECH, and State data privacy standards.

Continuous Improvement & Innovation 

  • Stay current with emerging BI technologies, Power BI features, and visualization best practices.
  • Recommend enhancements that improve performance, usability, and scalability of analytics solutions.
  • Participate in knowledge sharing, cross-training, and continuous improvement initiatives within the analytics team.

Collaboration & Learning 

  • Work with senior BI developers to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions. 
  • Participate in training to expand skills in analytics development. 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:  

Technical Competencies 

  • Advanced proficiency in Power BI, including DAX, Power Query (M), and data model optimization.
  • Strong SQL skills, with experience in Snowflake and SQL Server environments.
  • Familiarity with Azure Data Services (Data Factory, Synapse, or similar).
  • Understanding of data modeling (star schema, dimensional modeling) and performance tuning.
  • Experience with data storytelling, turning complex data into clear, visual narratives.

Analytical & Communication Skills 

  • Ability to translate business questions into analytical and visual reporting solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving and data validation skills with high attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Education/Experience Required: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Analytics, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
    • 3-5 years of experience in developing BI solutions, dashboards, or data visualizations.
    • Hands-on experience with Power BI, SQL, and enterprise data environments (Snowflake, Azure, or SQL Server).

Education/Experience Preferred:  

  • Experience with healthcare data or Medicaid environments.
  • Familiarity with ETL/ELT concepts and working with enterprise data warehouses.
  • Experience with Power BI Service administration and Row-Level Security (RLS).
  • Knowledge of data governance and quality frameworks.

Licensure/Certification Requirements: None required; Power BI or other BI tool certifications preferred.
