About us
Climate Arc (Arc) is a philanthropic organization working to accelerate corporate climate transitions by unlocking the trillions of dollars of private capital required to meet global goals. We ensure that financial decision makers have the tools, data, and skillsets needed to direct capital to the necessary solutions at speed and scale. Arc implements its strategy through grantmaking and proprietary products and programs delivered by our in-house capability.
Why this role matters
This role sits at the forefront of climate-finance data product development and methodological innovation.
At Arc, we are building public-good products to deliver capital to the climate transition. Our flagship tool is TransitionArc which equips financial institutions with trusted, science-aligned data to make better decisions. Building great products starts with great methodologies. That’s where you come in.
You’ll play a key role in translating complex climate science, key frameworks (e.g. ISSB), and transition scenarios into practical methodologies that underpin our products. You’ll help ensure our approach is transparent, grounded in quality data, and ready to be integrated into real-world decision-making.
You will help embed these frameworks into how data flows through our systems—from assessing and aligning partner datasets, to ensuring interoperability, to shaping how users experience TransitionArc. You’ll help identify gaps in existing approaches, develop innovative methods, and ensure that methodological decisions are transparent and embedded in our data structures.
Working closely with Arc’s Tech and Research teams—as well as a network of external partners—you’ll help build products that are innovative and drive action. From using national transition pathways to assess companies and corporate resilience to climate change impacts to tracking company progress over time - your work will shape how climate transition is understood and financed.
This is a unique opportunity to help define a new generation of open, science-based climate-finance tools that will play a key role in creating a more transparent, connected climate-finance ecosystem—one that works for the planet and the people investing in it.
What you will be doing
A day in the life
This is a hands-on, practical role at the intersection of climate science, finance, and data product development.
You’ll use your knowledge of climate transition and resilience (and frameworks in this area such as like ISSB, TPT, NZIF and CA100+NZB) to ensure Arc addresses critical gaps in the ecosystem and builds solutions relevant to users’ real-world pain points and use cases.
You’ll collaborate with researchers, technical teams, and partners to align datasets and frameworks, helping build systems that deliver decision leading information where it's needed most.
On any given day, you might be reviewing a new partner dataset, checking it for key attributes and ensuring it aligns with other methodologies. You’ll translate methodological decisions – on topics like sector pathways or industry specific transitions – into the structure of our data models and tools. Whether integrating that data into the warehouse, or shaping how it surfaces in TransitionArc, you’ll be focused on usability, transparency, and interoperability.
Expect to work with data and data structures regularly, using Python and/or tools like Tableau. You’ll need to make smart, grounded decisions that balance scientific rigor with real-world implementation, ensuring methodologies are not just credible but operational. And you’ll work with scenario models and local pathways to ensure our data reflects lived realities, not just global averages.
