Clinical Education & Training Manager (Remote Canada)
Ring RescueDiscover
The Opportunity
We're looking for an experienced Clinical Education & Training Manager to build and lead our training function as we expand our commercial organization and customer footprint. This is a newly created role with a unique opportunity to design and scale training programs that directly impact customer success, product adoption, and commercial growth.
As the leader of our training and education programs, you'll create and deliver learning experiences that support three critical audiences: healthcare professionals using our products, distribution partners representing Ring Rescue in the field, and our internal team. You'll develop training strategies, build scalable programs, create engaging learning content, and travel to customer and distributor locations to provide hands-on education and certification.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building from the ground up, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is passionate about helping people gain the skills and confidence they need to succeed.
This position includes approximately 30-40% travel throughout North America to support customers, distributors, and commercial teams. This person can be based remotely in Canada, although our head office is in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
What you'll do
Responsibilities
Training strategy and needs assessment
- Conduct training needs analyses across commercial, clinical, and operational functions; translate business objectives and product roadmaps into an annual training plan.
- Define role-based competency models and learning paths for each audience, including new-hire onboarding and ongoing development.
- Partner with Sales, Marketing, R&D, Regulatory, and Quality to align training with product launches, label changes, and process revisions.
Curriculum design and content development
- Design and build curricula using recognized instructional design methodology (ADDIE, SAM, or equivalent) grounded in adult learning principles.
- Develop instructor-led, virtual, eLearning, hands-on lab, and job-aid content; maintain a versioned content library tied to document and change control.
- Ensure all clinical and product claims in training material are reviewed and approved by Regulatory, Quality, and Medical Affairs before release.
Delivery and facilitation
- Facilitate new-hire onboarding, product launch training, certification workshops, and refresher sessions across in-person and virtual formats.
- Deliver hands-on clinical and technical training, including in-service education at customer sites and field ride-alongs where applicable.
- Run train-the-trainer programs that build internal super-users and extend delivery capacity through certified regional or contract trainers.
Program operations and measurement
- Own the training budget, vendor and contract-trainer relationships, scheduling, logistics, and training equipment or demo inventory.
- Define and report training metrics - completion, competency pass rates, time-to-productivity, and downstream business outcomes.
- Evaluate effectiveness against a recognized framework (for example Kirkpatrick Levels 1-4) and retire or redesign programs that do not perform.
Compliance, records, and audit readiness
- Administer the learning management system: curriculum assignment, completion tracking, certification expiry, retraining triggers, and reporting.
- Manage change-driven retraining when procedures, labeling, IFUs, or product configurations change.
What you'll need
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Life Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, Education, Business, or a related field.
- 5+ years of professional experience, including at least 3 years in training, clinical education, learning and development, or commercial enablement.
- Experience in medical devices, healthcare, diagnostics, biotech, or another regulated industry.
- Proven experience designing and delivering training programs for adult learners.
- Strong instructional design, facilitation, and presentation skills.
- Experience with learning management systems (LMS) and training technologies.
- Ability to influence and collaborate across cross-functional teams.
- Willingness to travel approximately 30-40%, with occasional early, late, or weekend work required to reach clinical staff.
