As the Director of International Tax, with Diebold Nixdorf, Incorporated, you will oversee all areas of international tax, including planning, compliance, and controversy. Interact and partner with business units, treasury, accounting, finance, and legal functions to identify and address international tax issues, manage international tax risk, and support corporate wide initiatives and transactions. Develop and execute strategies and policies related to international income taxes in line with goals and objectives of the tax department and the Company. Recruit, train, motivate, retain and provide leadership to tax professionals. Develop and coordinate key external and internal consultant relationships. Partner with Management in the U.S. and overseas on strategic and tactical business issues to ensure effective tax planning designed to increase EPS, cash flows, after-tax net income and shareholder value.



Responsibilities

Essential functions of this position include:

  • Monitor existing and identify and initiate discussion of additional international planning opportunities/risks with tax department colleagues and recommend short- and long-term strategies consistent with the Company’s strategic and operational objectives.
  • Direct the international aspects of the quarterly and annual tax accounting financial reporting processes, including quantitative modelling of GILTI, BEAT, and U.S. foreign tax credit.
  • Develop and maintain supporting documentation for technical tax positions taken by the Company.
  • Support current and long-term tax forecasts.
  • Liaise with the treasury team for tax efficient repatriation and other utilization of global funds. Monitor international income tax legislation including U.S. international tax matters and develop appropriate responses, including developing BEPS legislation.
  • Interact with outside legal counsel and other external tax advisors on international tax matters.
  • Lead preparation and review of international aspects of the U.S. federal income tax return, including U.S. Forms 5471, 8858, 8865, 1118 and related disclosures.
  • Collaborate with local country teams and external advisors to manage foreign tax compliance, including income and indirect taxes.
  • Support international transfer pricing policies, strategies, and documentation where necessary.
  • Strive for positive outcomes for foreign local income tax audits and international aspects of U.S. federal audits, appeals, and litigation matters.
  • Perform due diligence and provide structuring advice on M&A activity and participate in other special projects as required.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting with CPA and/or JD required
  • Minimum of 12 years tax experience with a track record of increasing responsibility for sophisticated tax matters
  • Strong Sub-C skill set including hands-on experience with consolidated return matters, reorganizations, M&A, and transfer pricing issues
  • Experience with global tax planning strategies including planning related to outbound investment, U.S. international tax framework (i.e., GILTI, BEAT, Subpart F, and foreign tax credit), and transfer pricing
  • Demonstrated leadership and staff management experience
  • Organized, reliable and resourceful professional with practical experience, who also has solid teamwork skills and a demonstrated ability to manage others and work across functions
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task and prioritize under pressure and within timeline constraints
  • Strong communication skills, including an ability to articulate technical tax concepts to non-tax colleague
  • Ability to travel minimally up to 20%

Salary Range: $185,000 to $205,000 Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including your qualifications, skills, competencies, geographic location, internal equity, and relevant experience. You may also be eligible to participate in a long term incentive plan and a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the plan and/or program, whereby an award, if any, may depend on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
