Finance Support Assistant 

Nursery Education Funding Team

Do you have an eye for detail and a passion for supporting early years education? Join our Nursery Education Funding team and help ensure that vital funding reaches providers who deliver free early education to children across Cornwall.

 

What is Nursery Education Funding?

Early Years Entitlements give families access to funded childcare for children from 9 months to 5 years, helping them learn, play, and thrive. Our team processes these funding claims and payments to ensure providers receive accurate and timely support.

 

The Role:

We are looking for a Finance Support Assistant to work within the Nursery Education Funding Team. This is a hybrid role; remote working is available, but the successful candidate must be able to commute to Bodmin when required.  This is a permanent part-time 18.5 hour position working Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

 

As a Finance Support Assistant, you will:

  • Process and validate Nursery Education Funding claims from early years providers
  • Generate and check payment runs to ensure accuracy
  • Process applications from parents
  • Provide support and guidance to providers and parents 
  • Maintain accurate records and carry out audits
  • Support the Early Years Census and statutory returns
  • Process education payments and invoices

 

This is a public/customer-facing role, where the statutory English language requirement for public sector workers applies.      

                   

This position will be subject to a basic criminal record disclosure check.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team 
  • Self- motivation to work independently
  • Good IT skills and experience with business systems
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
  • Previous experience in finance or business support role
