The Need
For over 25 years, IJM has pioneered the work to protect vulnerable people from violence. 9 out of 9 times in the last decade, IJM’s Justice System Strengthening Projects have reduced slavery and violence between 50 and 85% for very large populations of people in poverty. As we grow to expand our impact to protect 500 million people from violence, we are seeking a Global Senior Lead, Financial Systems Strategist.
The Global Sr. Lead, Finance Systems Enablement is responsible for leading IJM's finance systems initiatives, including those related to Workday, Adaptive Planning, QuickBooks, M-files, SmartSheet, and other relevant systems. This role owns business requirements, change management and project management related to enhancements to our Finance Systems and will work closely with the Finance Systems Manager and the Finance Systems team as well as functional SME's and HR and IT systems teams
This role is responsible for developing and maintaining our Finance Systems portfolio roadmap. For individual projects, this role will be responsible for managing the business requirements, user acceptance testing, training and other elements of change management and project management for Finance Systems projects.
This position is hybrid (onsite Tuesdays & Thursdays) if located in the Washington, DC area OR remote for non-local candidates. It reports to the Global Director, Treasury and is only available for candidates with the right to work in the US.
Responsibilities
Portfolio Management:
Maintain awareness of best practices in Finance Systems by attending conferences, building relationships with peers and generally staying current with latest trends in Finance Systems. Be visionary.
Lead senior Finance Management through a regular Finance Systems Roadmap review obtaining input and shared buy-in to this multiyear strategic plan.
Negotiate trade-offs as required
Align with GTS and HR roadmaps
Strategy, Knowledge Development & Implementation:
System Leadership: Lead monthly Finance stakeholder partnership meetings
Lead the effective execution of large projects and ensure delivery of planned sprint schedules.
Ensure all approved non-urgent requests are updated in the backlog for prioritization.
Design system testing—developing test scenarios, managing testing sessions, and adjusting training accordingly.
Networking & Partnership:
Develop networks with other customers within relevant communities to leverage best practices for IJM.
Partner with Finance, HR teams and GTS to define and refine requirements for new features and enhancements.
Direct the work of external consultants as needed.
Partner with project leaders in the business to effectively plan and execute projects from discovery through post-go-live phases.
Complex Projects:
Working with a user base distributed across the Globe, lead requirements gathering, technical documentation, execution of technical work, and vendor estimates.
Plan technical timelines and scopes of large projects.
Lead execution of successful testing and ensure business sponsor sign-off on requirements and testing.
Communication:
Manage project-specific communications, including partnering with business on building charters.
Handle critical issue escalation and management.
Direct release communications to core team members and stakeholders.
Advise and partner with business partners for training and communications to end users on new features, upgrades, and enhancements.
Training and Development:
Be a coach and mentor to other team members
Support the production of training materials for the entire user base
Develop training programs, including job aids and training materials to empower super users.
Mentor and train analysts in requirements gathering, testing, and project leadership for small projects.
Continuously learn to ensure Workday skills remain current and support the up-skilling of all team members
Software Development Life Cycle (SLDC):
Deliver software solutions following industry-standard SDLC: gather requirements, system configuration, test and UAT, deployment, and support.
Ensure thorough requirements gathering.
Oversee and ensure testing of all requirements and scenarios.
Understand and deploy Agile methods when appropriate.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, HR, FIN, Information Systems, Computer Science, related field or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and certification;
5+ years’ professional work experience including 1+ years of leadership experience;
5+ years of Finance systems experience, including new module implementation, project management, issue management, communication, and change management (Prior experience with global system support and deployment a plus);
3+ years’ Workday Financials configuration and requirements gathering experience strongly preferred
Technical Competencies:
Experience leading technical projects required
Experience writing UAT criteria or scripts for technical system requirements
High proficiency in Excel or other data analysis tools preferred
Experience with Workday preferred
