TrendSpider is expanding. The platform is getting more powerful, more interconnected, and more complex — which means our quality standards need to grow alongside it. We’re looking for a Lead of Quality Assurance who can take ownership of our testing strategy, shape how quality is defined and enforced, and work directly with developers to ensure reliability, stability, and user confidence.
You’ll lead and participate in QA hands-on. You will test, write test plans, drive automated test coverage, and be the advocate for quality across the product. If you enjoy improving systems, guiding a team, and working with real traders on a real trading platform, you’ll fit well.
Understand the current QA workflow, testing culture, and release processes — then propose and implement improvements.
Work with developers and product to define clear task details, acceptance criteria, and test checklists.
Ensure all features shipped meet an appropriate standard of quality — reliability, correctness, performance, and UX.
Perform manual testing in a systematic and documented way.
Build and improve automated tests (we use JS / Puppeteer) and ensure the pipeline is healthy.
Collaborate closely with developers to define and maintain appropriate lower-level automated test coverage (unit, integration, services).
Lead the QA team (currently 2 QAs), while maintaining a collaborative “engineers test their own work too” environment.
Help shape how we measure, track, and enforce quality across the product.
Small development team (~10 engineers) + small QA team (2 QA).
Remote-first — team is distributed. But being located in the Chicago area is a big plus.
Since some of our engineers are located in Eastern Europe, as a result some of our internal communication is in Russian. Fluency in Ukrainian and/or Russian is a strong, strong plus.
Workflow is a lightweight blend of Scrum and Kanban — low process overhead, high ownership.
Engineers are expected to test their own work; QA ensures coverage and discipline, but verifies things in the end anyways.
Experience conducting structured manual testing (e.g., using test checklists, test cases, reproducibility flows).
Experience leading QA efforts — whether as QA Lead, Senior QA, or similar.
Experience writing and maintaining automated tests, ideally using JavaScript + Puppeteer or similar frameworks.
Ability to collaborate with developers on determining necessary unit/integration coverage.
Hands-on experience trading or designing strategies is a major advantage.
You will have the opportunity to work deeply with active traders, learn how real trading strategies are developed, tested, and automated, and get exposure to the internals of backtesting engines, scanning systems, and real-time market data architecture.
If you're interested in markets and want to sharpen both engineering and trading intelligence, this is a rare environment where both are core to the product.
