Position Summary:
The Remote Payroll Clerk will play a vital role in ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll for our employees. This position requires strong attention to detail, confidentiality, and the ability to work independently in a remote environment. The ideal candidate will have experience with payroll systems, a solid understanding of payroll regulations, and excellent organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process bi-weekly and monthly payroll in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Collect, verify, and input employee timekeeping data, deductions, commissions, and bonuses
  • Review and audit payroll reports for accuracy and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Maintain and update payroll records and employee information in the HRIS/payroll system
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues, wage calculations, and deductions
  • Collaborate with HR and Finance departments to ensure consistent, compliant, and accurate data flow
  • Prepare payroll-related reports for management and auditing purposes
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in payroll laws and regulations affecting the company
  • Ensure confidentiality and security of all payroll information and employee data
  • Assist with year-end processes, including W-2 and other tax-related filings
  • Support additional administrative or payroll tasks as required

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of payroll processing experience, preferably in a remote or distributed team environment
  • Proficiency with payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, QuickBooks Payroll, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Strong understanding of payroll principles, wage and hour laws, and tax regulations
  • Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to resolving issues

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working with multi-state payrolls
  • Familiarity with HRIS systems and integration with payroll platforms
  • Prior experience in a remote work environment
