Part-Time Safety Consultant (Remote – Power Industry)
Location: King of Prussia, PA (initial in-person meeting, then fully remote)
Start Date: ASAP (flexible for the right candidate)
Type: Part-Time (W2/Direct Hire or 1099 Contract)

Position Details

  • Salary: $50,000 – $60,000 annually

  • Schedule: ~20 hours/week (flexible)

  • Work Arrangement: Initial in-person onboarding in King of Prussia, PA, followed by fully remote work

Project Scope

The Safety Consultant will be responsible for reviewing, revising, and streamlining the client's safety program and manual, ensuring alignment with current regulations and best practices in the power industry. This includes developing practical safety plans for both field and office operations, ensuring compliance through checklists, and integrating content into the company's LMS system.

Qualifications

Mandatory:

  • OSHA 30 certification

  • 3+ years of safety experience

  • Proven experience in the power/utility industry (electrical, transmission, distribution, substation)

  • Prior experience revising or creating safety programs and manuals

Preferred:

  • Strong knowledge of electrical safety, incident management, and utility operations

  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) for safety content

  • Excellent communication, documentation, and program development skills

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and revise a 200-page safety manual, streamlining content for clarity and efficiency

  • Develop clear, checklist-based safety procedures for incident response and routine inspections

  • Ensure LMS safety training content is up to date, relevant, and comprehensive

  • Create new safety plans for both field and office staff (e.g., AED checks, equipment inspections)

  • Identify gaps in current safety programs and proactively implement improvements

  • Partner with leadership to ensure a culture of safety across all operations

Skills & Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of OSHA standards and power/utility safety requirements

  • Ability to analyze gaps and propose effective safety solutions

  • Knowledge of electrical safety programs, incident reporting, and hazard controls

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently with initiative
