Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead on month-end and year-end close activities - including journals, reconciliations, and adjustments - ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Prepare statutory and management financial statements in accordance with FRS 102 and Charities SORP.
  • Coordinate and compile audit deliverables, acting as the key point of contact for external auditors.
  • Maintain a robust control environment through balance sheet reconciliations, lead schedules, and clear audit trails.
  • Produce insightful management accounts, variance analysis, and financial commentary to support operational and strategic decisions.
  • Partner with teams across the organisation to enhance financial understanding and ensure budgetary discipline.
  • Support the review of going concern assessments, impairment analyses, and financial risk monitoring.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to financial processes, documentation standards, and audit readiness.
  • Contribute to the development of policies, templates, and reporting tools that support consistency and transparency across finance.

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • Qualified Accountant.
  • Proven experience in financial and management accounting, including year-end close and audit preparation.
  • Strong technical understanding of FRS 102, IFRS, and ideally Charities accounting.
  • Excellent Excel skills, including reconciliations, pivot tables, and data analysis.
  • Experience preparing lead schedules, audit-ready documentation, and statutory financial statements.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
  • A proactive, organised, and detail-oriented approach - with calmness and confidence under pressure.
  • Knowledge of charity or multi-entity finance environments desirable but not essential. 

Package & Remuneration

R50 000 - R70 000 - Based of experience.
