Purpose of the Role
We are looking for a Group Finance Controller based in Germany, reporting to the Group Finance Director. This is a European role, the Group includes a range of businesses in software mobility across Europe, including businesses in Germany, UK, and Nordics.
This is a commercially focused finance role supporting the Group Finance Director. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality financial reporting, driving operational efficiency, and adding strategic value across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete all Group Monthly and Quarterly Consolidated Financial reporting for all internal and external requirements
- Support finance leads in collating group reports and explaining variances
- Help support efforts to improve ROIC (return on invested capital), working capital and growth performance
- Responsible to act as ‘critical friend’ to BU finance teams to ensure that all monthly and quarterly deadlines are met
- Assist with preparation and review quarterly budget meetings
- Prepare and review financial models and proposals on an ad hoc basis to support the decision-making process across a range of commercial issues
- Develop and improve finance and project systems.
- Support finance teams in all questions regarding revenue recognition (IFRS 15)
- Support Group Finance Director with financial integration and processes to portfolio best practices, including the training of finance resources
- Support internal and external audits and yearly statutory fillings
- Lead best practices to processes, people and systems to affect revenue, profitability and cashflow, to improve operating efficiency and performance
- Lead and implement introduction of new systems and processes such as new financial systems, expense management and other reporting systems
Additional Activities (shared with other members of finance team)
- Take on company-wide finance tasks as allocated from time to time
- Working with the Group Finance Director, prepare analysis of acquisition targets and assist with purchase accounting and integration of acquisitions
- Support financial team providing hands-on day-to-day assistance in individual business as required
- Assist in monthly and year end management/financial accounts and audit
- Ad hoc financial analysis in support of the preparation of management accounts
- Travel will be required from time to time
Candidate Profile
Required Skills & Experience
The ideal candidate will be / have:
- Professionally qualified accountant or equivalent with at least 2 years post qualification experience OR demonstratable Qualification by Experience (QBE)
- Advanced Excel skills including PowerQuery, complex look-up functions and similar as well as the ability to effectively present data in the most appropriate format are essential for all analysis and reporting duties
- Strong organisational abilities, experience of working to tight deadlines and a hands-on approach to finance.
- Experience of implementing new ERP & Financial Reporting systems
- Deep knowledge of accounting principles (primarily IFRS), good understanding of financial/management information systems. Technically competent with finance and accounting knowledge and skills.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to adapt to and implement change.
- High level of numeracy (Accounting/Maths/Statistics) and the ability to interpret management information
- High computer literacy, with particular reference to accounting and management software and their application in a software / project environment.
- Fluent in English and German. An additional European language would be an advantage.
