The Role
We are looking for a proactive, people-focused HR & Learning Development Manager to help
shape the future of our business.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who loves hospitality, thrives in a team environment, and wants to build genuinely impactful people practices across a growing group. A key part of this role will be leading the design, development, and delivery of our internal training programme. You will work closely with our operations team to understand skills gaps, create tailored training solutions, and ensure every team member has a clear pathway to develop—from first job to leadership roles. You will have the freedom to innovate, introduce new training formats, and build a modern learning culture across all Marjoram pubs.
You will be responsible for HR operations, recruitment, employee relations, learning & development, culture initiatives, and supporting managers across multiple sites.
You will work hand-in-hand with our General Managers, Head Chefs, and site teams to develop practical, engaging training that improves performance and consistency. We’re looking for someone who can bring fresh ideas, modern learning tools, and creative approaches to how we develop our teams.
Key Responsibilities
Learning, Training & Development
- Design training sessions across hospitality, leadership, H&S and compliance.
- Create development pathways for team members at all levels.
- Support our mission of helping people grow professionally and personally.
HR Operations & Employee Support
- Provide day-to-day HR support to managers and teams across our pubs and central operations.
- Oversee and develop employee lifecycle processes including onboarding, contracts, HR documentation and offboarding.
- Maintain and develop HR systems, records, and compliance practices.
- Handle employee relations cases with professionalism and fairness.
Recruitment & Talent
- Oversee end-to-end recruitment for all roles.
- Build strong talent pipelines and community recruitment initiatives.
- Support managers in interviewing, onboarding, and early development.
Culture, Engagement & Wellbeing
- Champion our values and ensure Marjoram Pubs remains a positive, supportive environment.
- Lead recognition programmes and celebrate team achievements.
- Support wellbeing initiatives and help build a strong company culture.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in HR, people operations, or L&D; ideally in hospitality.
- Understanding of UK employment law.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Organised, proactive, and comfortable in a growing business.
- Passion for people development and positive workplace culture.
