Location: Remote
Work Hours: 20 Hours per Week

Reports To: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Salary: R20 000 per month

Position Overview:

The Accounting & HR Officer provides financial, HR, and administrative support across the company. This remote part-time role (20 hours per week) is responsible for payroll, billing, HR administration, audit preparation, and general accounting and cash flow support. The ideal candidate is highly organised, detail-oriented, and able to operate autonomously at a company level.

Accounting & Financial Support

  • Process weekly, fortnightly, and/or monthly payroll accurately and confidentially.
  • Manage billing and invoicing, including timely issuance and follow-up.
  • Support cash flow management by tracking inflows/outflows and preparing forecasts.
  • Assist with budget preparation, formatting, and ongoing budget monitoring.
  • Perform general accounting administration including reconciliations, data entry, and maintaining financial records.
  • Prepare documentation for audits and compile complete handover packs for auditors.
  • Assist with accounts payable and receivable as required.

HR Administration

  • Maintain employee records and ensure all HR documentation is accurate, updated, and compliant.
  • Support onboarding and offboarding processes, including employment contracts and system access management.
  • Track leave balances, entitlements, and HR-related reporting.
  • Assist with policy updates and compliance activities.
  • Provide administrative support for performance reviews, contractor management, and staff communication.

Compliance & Audit

  • Prepare audit-ready folders, documentation, and reconciliations.
  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors during audit periods.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, financial regulations, and employment standards.
  • Maintain organised and secure digital filing systems for all financial and HR documents.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 3–5 years’ experience in accounting, HR, payroll, or similar administrative roles.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and HR processes.
  • Experience working in international or Australian accounting/financial environments (highly beneficial).
  • Proficiency in accounting software, payroll systems, and cloud-based admin tools.
  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience managing the financial operations of an Australian (preferred) company with a turnover between $5–$10 million.
  • Xero expertise is required.
  • Demonstrated experience in cash flow forecasting, budget development, and ongoing financial monitoring.
  • Ability to provide reliable, contactable references.
  • Reliable remote work setup.
