We are seeking a Property Accountant with a strong background in commercial real estate accounting to support a growing portfolio of properties. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, highly analytical, and eager to partner with leadership to drive operational and financial success.
Duties & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for multiple commercial properties, including accruals/prepayments, recurring AJEs, and GL/Subledger reconciliations.
Manage accounts payable/receivable, expense tracking, reconciliations, payroll invoicing, and distributing collection notices and payments.
Ensure compliance with local tax and accounting standards, including 1099 processing.
Support budgeting and forecasting processes.
Lease Administration
Maintain accurate records of commercial leases, payment schedules, and compliance documents.
Monitor rent collections, escalations, renewals, lease compliance, and file maintenance.
Prepare and distribute tenant invoices, including percentage rent and utilities.
Liaise with property managers and leadership to resolve lease-related issues.
Operational Support
Provide financial insights supporting property performance and operations, including ROI evaluations.
Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency across accounting and operations.
Collaboration & Systems
Partner with internal teams and external stakeholders, including auditors, landlords, and vendors.
Maintain data accuracy and financial integrity of accounting systems and property management tools (Yardi preferred).
Desired Experience & Qualification
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA/CA preferred).
3–7 years of professional accounting experience, ideally within commercial property or real estate.
Strong understanding of lease administration and commercial property finance.
Advanced proficiency in Excel and accounting software (QuickBooks, NetSuite, Yardi, or similar).
Excellent attention to detail, analytical thinking, and organizational skills.
Strong written and verbal communication in English (Portuguese/Spanish a plus for LATAM candidates).
Comfortable working U.S. hours remotely, with high responsiveness and ownership mentality.
Package & Remuneration
South Africa: $2,200 – $2,800 USD/month (seniority + CPA/CA on higher end)
