Role Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Entry-Level Accounting Associate to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in supporting the organization’s accounting functions, including maintaining key schedules, preparing reconciliations, and assisting in process improvements. This position reports directly to the Manager of Accounting, offering an excellent opportunity to build foundational accounting skills in a variety of different areas, while contributing to a mission-driven organization focused on sustainability and the circular economy.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting Operations and Reconciliations
- Maintain the prepaid expenses schedule and prepare monthly journal entries
- Update and maintain the fixed asset roll-forward schedule
- Apply deposits to accounts and ensure accurate recordkeeping
- Assist in preparing accrued expense schedules and related journal entries
- Maintain cash account reconciliations.
Financial Reporting and Support
- Collaborate with the other accounting staff to design and refine financial templates for reporting purposes
- Support the preparation of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial reports
- Run and analyze financial data reports as needed for internal and external stakeholders
Internal Controls and Process Improvements
- Contribute to the development and documentation of accounting policies and procedures
- Assisti n improving and maintaining internal controls, including segregation of duties
- Work with the team to optimize workflows and ensure data integrity in Workday and other systems
Administrative and Ad-Hoc Tasks
- Support audits by maintaining accurate and organized documentation
- Provide assistance with transactional accounting tasks
- Perform other related duties to support the accounting team and organizational goals
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Skills & Competencies
- Familiarity with general ledger systems and basic accounting principles
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, vlookups); experience with Workday or similar ERP systems is a plus
- Strong aptitude for working with schedules, templates, and data organization
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 0–4 years of relevant experience (internships and coursework accepted)
Compensation & Other Information
- Location: HYBRID Based in Cincinnati
- Pay Rate: Based on a variety of factors in accordance with applicable law including the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, knowledge and experience.
- Reports To: Senior Accounting Manager - General Accounting
